University of Duisburg-Essen (Ger. Universität Duisburg-Essen) was officially founded in 2003 by combining the Duisburg University and the Higher School of the city of Essen.
This is a modern multi-disciplinary university, located in two cities.
At the moment, there are trained more than 40 000 students, more than 7 000 of them – foreign.
University mainly trains specialists for the national industry in Germany. One of the priorities are nanotechnology.
The teaching staff includes about 3400 professors, lecturers and organizational staff.
Training is conducted in German and English. On the student’s choice. For accommodation, students are usually placed in dormitories or rented apartments.
