University of Strathclyde

The University of Strathclyde is a prestigious public research university in Glasgow, Scotland, Britain. The history of the Anderson Institute dates back to 1796. The University of Strathclyde was recognised as the first technological university in the United Kingdom in 1964 by a special Royal Charter.

The University is now the third largest university in Scotland and has staff and students from over 100 countries. The University was named 'University of the Year' in 2012 and 'Entrepreneurial University of the Year' in 2013 (Times Higher Education). It is ranked 50th among UK universities in the Times Higher Education rankings and 36th in the Sunday Times University Guide. Many courses and training programmes are very highly rated both nationally and globally. Individual sciences and knowledge areas rank highly in the Complete University Guide 2015 rankings, with Accounting and Finance ranked 2nd, Hospitality, Leisure and Tourism 9th, Business and Management Studies 9th, Marketing 4th, Engineering 10th and Medical Technology 1st.

1. Library. In existence since 1976. It consists of five floors and offers 2,000 reading seats, 450 computer seats and large common rooms with high-speed internet. The library has over one million print books, over 540,000 e-books, 239 databases and 38,000 e-journals. The electronic databases are accessible from any authorised computer at any time.
2. Innovation and Technology Centre. It has science laboratories and research classrooms, offices, lecture theatres, common recreation areas and much more.
